Subject: In honor of the Special Education Team of Washoe County

Dear Washoe County Special Education Teachers, Caregivers, Therapists, and Support teams:

When our 5 year old identical twin daughters, Addi and Cassi Hempel, were toddlers we never imagined that they would someday require special education services in the Washoe County School District. As you may know, two years ago we discovered that Addi and Cassi suffer from a rare cholesterol disorder call Niemann Pick Type C; more commonly referred to as “Childhood Alzheimer’s.”

We created The Addi & Cassi Fund 18 months ago to raise money for research, treatments and ultimately a cure for this horrible and fatal disease. Our 2nd annual fundraiser, “An Evening of Stars” will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at the Grand Sierra Resort.

We are pleased to announce that this event will be held in your honor. We are even more pleased, on behalf of numerous local families and businesses like the Sierra Summit who have donated a pool of tickets for teachers, to invite you and your spouse to be our guests for an incredible evening of entertainment and giving.

Beginning at our first meeting with the “Child Find” team 18 months ago, we have experienced the amazing capabilities and dedication of the entire organization that makes Special Education in Washoe County truly wonderful. When we considered who we would like to honor at our “Evening of the Stars” event we immediately thought of all of you.

We are sure there are moments when you are changing a soiled diaper or dealing with a challenged child that you feel undervalued or under appreciated. We want you to know that your dedication and tireless efforts to help children with special needs in our County does not go unrecognized by our community.

Please join us on October 3, 2009, at the Grand Sierra Resort’s Grand Theater for a very special night. Nevada’s Entertainer of the Year, Greg London, will be giving a special performance of his critically acclaimed hit show “ICONMAN.” Greg will be joined by 5 year old singing sensation, Kaitlyn Maher, the youngest person ever to make it into the Top 10 as a finalist on NBC’s smash show America’s Got Talent and Paul Salos, world famous Frank Sinatra impersonator. Salos’ near perfect Ol’ Blue Eyes routine has won him many accolades including a 2008 Top 10 finalist on America’s Got Talent. Dinner & Hosted Bar are part of the evening… It is a great chance to dress up a little too!

Tickets will be available on a first come basis so please sign up today.

See you on October 3rd at 5:30pm at the Grand Sierra Resort Grand Theater.

Sincerely yours,

Hugh and Chris Hempel
