Make A Wish For Addi and Cassi Today
Your support and encouragement helps us get through each day as we fight our battle against Niemann Pick Type C, the “Childhood Alzheimer’s.” We read all messages posted to our family and while we may not be able to respond to each message, your messages are very touching. Thank you to everyone around the world who has posted on our Wishes Board.

Hey I just show those litle girls in Television in Iceland.. Reykjavík, and Im so sorry.. So sad story.. Hope the best for the girls Addi and Cassi 🙂
Best wishes from ICELAND 🙂 *
Please, please, please get these little girls checked out for Vitamin B12 deficiency. Their symptoms are so typical of what happens when very young children have this deficiency. Mum, please read a book by Sally Pacholok called “Could it be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses”. It contains a whole chapter on childhood deficiency and how it is treated (which is very simply with aggressive B12 injection therapy).
I cannot urge you enough to consider this. Even supposing it didn’t help, it wouldn’t do them any harm either but, regardless of what blood test levels show, I still think it is more than worthwhile investigating this and letting them have a course of treatment purely to see if it makes a difference.
This is an amazing story. Will a bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant help this disorder? The girls are beautiful and your quest for answers to fight and/or possibly cure their illness is amazing…
Hi
As a father for four kids, I only wish that you will be the first to see the cure that overcomes this terrible disease and your twins live happily and healthy thereafter.
I cannot even imagine what power and courage it must take to tackle this situation on a daily basis, but I wish you to be strong and keep the faith.
Regards
Fej
Dear Hempel family,
I stumbled upon your video on you tube and was extremely touched by your story. How scary it must be to be face with such a serious disease. Please know that you are in my prayers. Do not underestimate the power of prayers and don’t be afraid to ask for them. I hope these experimental drugs work and I pray that your efforts will lead to a cure of this horrible disease. In the meantime, may you find joy and peace in every day you spend with your daughters.
Love,
Jodi
