The Addi and Cassi Fund Presents:
Moonlight Garden Gala
A benefit for Childhood Alzheimer’s (NP-C)
Please join us for a star-filled night to help find a cure to “Childhood Alzheimer’s” (Niemann-Pick Type C), a rare, progressive and fatal neurological disease that is robbing children of all ages around the world of their ability to walk, talk, or even remember the name of their favorite stuffed animal.
The Moonlight Garden Gala at the new Downtown Reno Ballroom on Saturday, May 10, 2008 will be a mystical evening of hope, wonder and childhood dreams as we honor four-year-olds Addi and Cassi Hempel and children all over the world who suffer from “Childhood Alzheimer’s” (NP-C). Our guests will be treated to an elegant evening with a celebrity performance, silent and live auctions, uplifting music and an enchanting atmosphere as we transform the ballroom into a beautiful moonlit garden, designed in the spirit of a child’s imagination, with tree-lined paths, twinkle lights, fireflies and a fountain of wishes. This will be a very special evening where friends, family, honored guests and local dignitaries will have an opportunity to mingle, share ideas and help save children’s lives.

I felt an immediate need to help when I read your story from a friend in Reno. I would like to do more but for now I can crochet and am making “Cure Caps” as fast as I can. Hopefully, this will help fund some research for the disease which will help the girls. You are in my thoughts daily. Joyce

Chris & Hugh,
I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your daughters.
I would love to donate some portraits I took of the Dali Lama when he was here in Maui last year for the silent auction. I hope it is not too late.
Please have someone contact me so I can get them to you.

I am a distributor of Cachet Candles in the Reno area. I am willing to put together a few baskets to donate to the silent auction. As a mom of three I could never imagine the feelings that you are going through. However, I do understand the immense feeling of doing whatever it takes to help save your precious daughters. If I can help in any other way please feel free to contact.

Dear Chris & Hugh,
I am a local performer and voice teacher in the area and I just saw your segment this morning on KOLO News Channel 8.
My Stepfather passed away two years ago from Alzheimer’s and to say the least it had been difficult on the entire family. There is a 50% chance that my 14-year old twin brother and sister will have it and that just devastates me!
I wanted to volunteer for the upcoming gala and also donate 4 private voice lessons (valued at $160) for the event.
I would also like to offer free music lessons to Addi and Cassi. Music truly does wonders for the soul and would bring much happiness to your beautiful little girls!
My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Sincerley,

Hi … perhaps I can donate some photography for the silent auction. And maybe the framer at the top of the list here can frame them? I’m happy to try to help the best I can. Good luck!

Hi
My name is Christel Citko and I am the owner of Art Source Gallery at 9748 So. Virginia St.
It goes without saying that I will contribute to the fundraiser at the Silver Legacy for silent auction, etc.
I would also be glad to donate funds somehow thru gallery framing or sales. I do not know if you have access to an email list and can tell people that if they mention the Hempel fund when they come in for framing or buy art thru May – we will donate 5% of the total sale to your fund.
If you have any ideas as to how we can help as a gallery – please speak up. My gallery is very large =8000 sq.ft. – I can have a cocktail party here or a brunch or….I am open to ideas/suggestions.
My heart goes out to you as well as all my blessings.
Christel

Hi there,
My name is Shannon Dunlap and I also have three year old twins. Jay and Mya will turn 4 in February. I read your story in the paper and was inspired to write to you. I would like to offer my help in two ways:
One, I own a business here in Reno called SOAK Nail Spa + Lounge. Our website is www.soaklounge.com. I would be happy to donate two of our seasonal pedicures to the auction in May. Please contact Neal at 324-7399. I will let him know someone may be calling.
In addition, I would like to invite you and your girls to be our guests for two little miss and one Mommy pedicure at SOAK. Both my son and daughter LOVE this treat. We can do all three pedi’s at one time, with you all sitting together. We will do sparkling cider in fancy glasses and bling out those little toes with flowers or rhinestones if they like. For mom a great pedi with a hot stone
massage. Just guessing but I bet you could all use a little time out and TLC. If you are interested please just give me a call.
Wishing your family a wonderful holiday,
Shannon, Darin, Jay and Mya Dunlap

I’ve added the May 10 fundraiser to my calendar and will be there.
As for volunteering, since I live in SF, please let me know what I can do to help organize the SF fundraiser. I imagine this will be done in conjunction with Spark, so consider me a member of the team to work on whatever you need in SF!

Hello:
My husband and I would like to donate a piece of pottery for the upcoming silent auction at the Silver Legacy. I read the article in the Reno Gazette today and I am very familiar with NP-C.
Our pottery website is peavinepottery.com and we are here in Reno. You are all in my prayers and I am sending positive thoughts to all of you. If you would like, someone can come out to our studio and select a piece for the auction.
